OBITUARY:
HENRY FRANCIS DICKENSON, JR., age 81, of Jefferson City, TN passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Jefferson County Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was a retired biology professor of 37 years from Carson Newman College, former Carson Newman College tennis coach, avid bridge player and loved the outdoors. He was a long time member and former elder of First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City. Preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Drumheller Dickenson; and parents, Henry F. and Margaret Crowley Dickenson. Survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Sandy Dickenson of Knoxville, TN and Mike and Barbara Dickenson of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Aaron Dickenson and his wife, Claire of Knoxville, Brent Dickenson and fiancé, Eliza Rudder of Knoxville, and Paul Dickenson of Knoxville, Kate and Dennis Clabo of Pigeon Forge and Wayne Dickenson of Franklin; step-grandchildren, Josh Palmer of Sweetwater, Brittany (Josh) Webb of Brentwood; sister, Virginia Biggs of Valpraiso, Indiana; brother and sister-in-law, Walt and Atha Dickenson of Nicholasville, KY. The family wishes to thank special caregivers, Junior and Juanita Sexton, Jewell Trent, Dorcas Mills and Jennie Grey, and the wonderful staff at Darby House and Jefferson County Nursing Home. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City with Reverend Russ Weekley and Reverend Junior Sexton officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carson Newman College, 1646 Russell Avenue, Jefferson City, TN 37760.
