She had a feisty sense of humor and loved children and bluebirds. She was an avid Braves and UT fan and took great pride in the care of her home and family. Helen worked at the Carter and Mascot Branches of the Knox County Public Library for many years and retired from there in 1998. She was a lifelong member of Lyons Creek Baptist Church. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eula Walker; husband, William S. Swaggerty, Sr.; sisters, Rosa Lee Rudder and Bertha Mae Fairfield; brother John (Junior) Walker. She leaves behind her daughter, Linda Bacon and husband, John; son, Bill Swaggerty, Jr. and wife, Meg; daughter, Terri Swaggerty; daughter, Carol Swaggerty and partner, Paul Cope; grandchildren, Scott Bacon and wife, Brenda; Kelly Jennings and husband, Jerry; Bill Swaggerty III and wife, Keri; Aabra Spurling and partner, Hillary Mayer and daughter, Lily; Isabelle Swaggerty, Emily Dickinson and husband, Peter; great-grandchildren, Logan, Lauren, Zachary and Max Bacon, Riley Jennings, Rori and William Swaggerty IV; brothers, Billy Joe Walker and wife, Betty; Charles (Deedle) Walker and wife, Martha; sister-in-law, Mildred (Mimi) Walker; brother-in-law, Bruce Fairfield; numerous and beloved nieces, nephews and their families; and lifelong special friend, Mildred (Swanee) Taylor. Per Helen?s request, graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2006 at Trentville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lyons Creek Baptist Church or Knox County Public Library ? Carter and/or Mascot Branches. The family would like to thank caregiver Ruby Sweeney and the staff and visiting nurses of St. Mary?s Hospice Home Program for their care, concern and assistance.
