Harold Jarnigan

On Wednesday, August 3, 2016, Harold Jarnigan peacefully departed this life. Harold was born on April 3,1930 to Edd and Lillie Collier Jarnigan. Harold will be sorely missed by his beloved wife of twenty-four years, Brenda Hickman Jarnigan and his four children, Greg Jarnigan, Wayne Jarnigan, Holly J. Cox and Cathi J. Robinson . Harold was preceded in death by his parents and a large family of brothers and sisters; Raymond, Lloyd, Tom, Dick, Don, Fannie, Daisy and Carol. He is survived by Mrs. Dean Jarnigan Hodges (sister) of Rutledge, TN. Harold was born, raised and lived his entire life in Jefferson County. He loved his community and the people. He had a great fondness for children of all ages and enjoyed engaging with them. He was blessed with sweet and loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and sons-in law. Harold's extended family includes his three caring step-daughters, Dusty, Shelly, Debbie, their husbands and children. Harold worked in the mines (TCI/US Steel) for thirty years and after his retirement continued to stay busy by doing small engine repair for the residents of Jefferson and surrounding counties. Throughout the seasons, Harold could be found working in the garage behind his house. Folks knew where to find him when they needed help with a broken lawn mower or weed-eater. Throughout the years, Harold exercised his privilege and duty to vote both locally and nationally. He enjoyed a friendly debate of politics with friends and acquaintances at local restaurants and especially "while loafing with buddies at Broadway Tire. Harold was an avid fan of sports, particularly NASCAR racing and football. But most importantly, Harold loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him well through love and kindness to everyone he met. No formal service will be held, but his family appreciates your kind thoughts and prayers. In lieu of flowers, Harold's favorite charity is the St. Jude Children's Hospital. Many thanks to Dr. Lansing and the nursing staff at Jefferson Memorial Hospital and to Farrar Funeral Home of Jefferson City for the kindness and respect shown to our beloved husband and daddy and to our family during those last hours.
