HAROLD D. COX, age 80, of Talbott, TN passed away at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at St. Mary?s Medical Center following an extended illness. He was a retired semi driver from Jeffrey Chain. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U. S. Army and was a founding member of Lakeshore Road Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Rev. Burl and Mary Cox; and brother, Marvin Cox. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Bertha Mae Lee Cox; sons, Harold D. (Tammy) Cox, Jr. of Morristown, Joey C. Cox of Morristown, Scott (Brenda) Cox of Talbott, Mark (Holly) Cox of Jefferson City and Michael (Becky) Cox of Knoxville; special grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) Shrader, Christie (Shannon) Sewell, Brandon, Kayla, Zachary, Kelsey, Hayden, Abby, Bryce, Kendra, and Katelyn Cox; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Homer (Virginia) Cox of Kingsport; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jo and Ron Gilliam of Kingsport and Larry and Betty Sutherland of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and all his church family at Lakeshore Road Baptist Church; and special pet, Molly Jo. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2009 at Lakeshore Road Baptist Church with Reverend Todd Golden and Reverend Gary Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral services. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Lakeshore Road Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 8, Talbott, Tn 37877. The family wishes to give a special thanks to the St. Mary?s Hospitals of Jefferson City and Knoxville, and also to the Heritage Center of Morristown.
