Hannah Bell Horner

Hannah Bell Horner, age 100, departed this life on May 13, 2003 at 12:20 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Rosa Kinder, after a long battle with cancer and a stroke on March 21. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she was the oldest member. She had made her home for 32 years in the Jefferson City Housing Project on Hillview Lane. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William Roy Horner; sons, William Roy, Jr., Thomas Dewey, James Scott, J. W. and Stanley Horner; daughter, Ann Mills and son-in-law, Jim Mills; sons-in-law, Ralph Gilliam and Jim Barbee; daughter-in-law, Nora Horner. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Mack and Barb Horner of Mt. Morris, Illinois, Dewitt and Imojene Horner of Jefferson City, Ray and Rose Mary Horner of Morristown, Haskell and Mary Horner of Louisville, Kentucky; daughters-in-law, Jenny Horner of Talbott, Ruth Horner Pearce of Indiana; daughters and sons-in-law, Maggie Gilliam of Jefferson City, Rosa and Robert Kinder of Jefferson City, Edna and Stewart Bennett of Brooklet, Georgia. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grand children; sister, Nancy Ryan of Morristown; and brother-in-law, John Horner of Mt. Morris, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2003 from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Jefferson City with Dr. Sonny Strange officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. Thursday evening, May 15, 2003 at the funeral home.
