Gretta A. Van Deventer, age 93 of Maryville, TN went to be with the Lord on January 10, 2024 at Liberty Assisted Living.  She was a member of the Sandy Springs Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Maryville and was retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co.  She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa.  Gretta loved the Lord.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her parents Dewey James Short and Florence McQueen Short; brothers, Ronald Short and Stanley Short and sister, Doris Williamson.  Gretta is survived by her husband of 73 years, Charles A. Van Deventer; children, Deborah V. Bain and Scott A. (Irna) Van Deventer; grandchildren, Andrew (Jackie) Bain, Jason (Selena) Bain, Teresa (Jérôme) Leborgne, Philip (Brittney) Van Deventer and Katie (Patrick) Hare and she is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Sandy Springs Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 1201 Montvale Station, Maryville, TN 37803 with Pastor James Ganzevoort officiating. A light lunch will follow the funeral service.  The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am prior to the funeral service.  Private burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge, TN.  In lieu of flowers your contribution to Sandy Springs Orthodox Presbyterian Church Benevolence Fund would be very much appreciated.
