SMITH, age 83, of White Pine, TN passed away Monday, April 7, 2008 following an extended illness. He was retired from American Enka after 36 years of service and was a member of White Pine First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Army. He was an avid outdoorsman and gifted artist and also enjoyed reading. Preceded in death by parents, Charles Porter Smith and Bessie Lee Bettis Smith. He is survived by wife of 57 years, Marjorie Gammon Smith; children, Glenda Jones and husband, Ed, Charles "Chuck" Smith and wife, Teresa, David Smith and wife, Tammy, Amy Maxey and husband, Roger; grandchildren, Chanati Jones Moore and husband, Jason, Glenn Michael and Jeremy Smith, Madison Smith, Lurelle and Caleb Maxey; great grandchild, Cole Moore; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the Farrar White Pine Chapel with Reverend Mark McFadden, Reverend Brian Osborne and Reverend Darrell Chambers officiating. Interment graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Seahorns Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service.
