GLEN M. "DOODLE" HOLBERT, age 74, of Dandridge, TN passed away Tuesday morning, July 25, 2006 at his home following a battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Sevier County, the son of the late Ernest and Florence Underwood Holbert. He was a member of the French Broad Masonic Lodge # 588 F & AM and was a Shriner. A retired mechanic of Stowers Machinery afte 24 years of service. Doodle was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors and gardening. He had many friends who will miss his flashing smile and quick wit that let you know instantly that you were his friend. He was greatly loved by family and friends and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Gena Holbert of Maryville, TN, and Roger's mother, Emma Holbert; beloved sisters, Betty Riley of Kissimmeee, FL and Katherine and husband, L. R. Ogle of Gladstone, VA; special companion friend, Sue King; friend and former wife, Alma Cartt. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all his many friends who have shown their love and concern thru his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mary Ellen Darby, 1321 Laurel Hills Circle, Jefferson City, TN 37760. Family and friends will celebrate the life of Flen "Doodle" Holbert with a viewing and sharing of memories on Friday, July 28, 2006 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge and at other times at the family home, 1412 Martha Dandridge Circle, Dandridge.
