Glenn Mack Cate

Glenn Mack Cate, age 75,  is singing in the presence of God now after passing from this earth on January 5, 2023.  A lifelong member of the Dumplin community, he was a Piedmont school custodian and bus driver, church music director, Sunday school teacher,  and was bass singer in the singing Cate family and the Dumplin Church men's quartet.  He loved God, his family, traveling, telling jokes, and cooking on his wood stove. He is preceded in death by his wife Clara Jean Cate, granddaughter Susanna Jean West, parents Rube and Lou Cate, brother Kyle Cate, many brothers and sisters in-law, and special niece Jenny Bullis. He leaves behind a son Ralph Cate (Melissa) and a daughter Glenda Holden (Alan), grandkids Cole West, Dillon (Ashley)West, Zach Cate, and Rachel West, a sister Mildred Lindsey, sister-in-law Laura Payne, and many, many nieces and nephews. He also leaves a very special lady, Donna Walters, whom he loved dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Northview Academy Band, 2719 Northview Academy Way, Kodak, TN 37764. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff and residents of Life Care Center, where Glenn was cared for and loved by so many. Receiving of friends will be Sunday, January 15, at Dumplin Baptist Church, 1843 W. Dumplin Valley Road, New Market, from 1- 3 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow. After the service, all are invited to follow in a procession of Glenn's last ride on his favorite JD 2755 tractor, courtesy of the Earl Jones family, to Cate Cemetery,  which is about a mile from the church.
