Glen Edward (Ed) Trent, age 73, of Talbott, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Powder Springs, Tennessee on June 2, 1946, to the late Bertie Cash Trent Nicley and the late G.T. “Bill” Trent. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Brandon Ray Brown. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a longtime member and choir leader at Grace Baptist Church in Dandridge. Since 2004, Ed has been employed with the Home Deport in Morristown, where he made many friends and enjoyed helping customers. He was a Master Mason and was a member of Leadvale Lodge #390 F&AM. Previously he had been an employee of Phillips/Magnavox and built homes. He is survived by his wife, Helen Cameron Trent, of Talbott; son, Wayne Trent, and wife, Brenda, of Rutledge; daughter, Kimberly Cook, and husband Shane, of Jefferson City; and son, Mark Cameron, and wife Michelle, of Talbott; grandchildren, Daniel Trent, and wife Ashton, of Rutledge; Amber Irwin, and husband Travis, of Blaine; Karli Jane Cook of Jefferson City, and Tanner Cameron of Talbott; great-grandchildren, Jackson Trent, Addyson Polson, Hudson Trent and Karson Irwin; sisters, Brenda Brown of Rutledge, Erma (James) Sexton and Kathy (Eddy) Ballard, all of Knoxville; brothers, Dale (Judy) Trent of Telford and Ricky (Sandy) Trent of Talbott; step-father, Robert Nicley of Washburn; step-sisters, Karen Roper of Sparta and Kim (Chris Hurley) Nicley of Maryville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friends Bud and Sheila Young, Brenda Lovin and Diane Senter; and many, many friends too numerous to mention. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff, doctors, and nurses at Methodist Medical Center for the excellent care, concern, and compassion given to our loved one. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, 710 Grace Church Road, Dandridge, TN 37725 or The Hospitality Houses of Methodist Medical Center, Methodist Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 2529, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-9924. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2019 at Grace Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Trent, Rev. Daniel Trent and Rev. Perry Davis officiating.
