Gladys Viola Jones Glenn

GLADYS VIOLA JONES GLENN, age 84 of Dandridge, TN passed away at home on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Eugene "Gene" Glenn; parents, Sam P. and Parlee Cates Jones; rothers, William "Bud", Bobby, Paul, Earl, G.H., and Charlie; sister, Bonnie Ruth; and granddaughter Misty Glenn. She is survived by sons and daughters in law, Jack (Barbara) and Gary (Libby); grandchildren, Cynthis (Larry) Vaughn, Michael, Kevin (Lesia), Sean and Kelly Jo Glenn; great grandchild, J. D. Vaught; brother, Lee Roy Jones; sisters, Mildred Johnson and Ella spriggs; sisters in law, Georgia, Myrtle and Jane Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and psecial friends. Gladys was employed at Gaby Hosiery Mill for 23 years and retired from Tennessee Handbags after 17 years. She was the longest living member of Deep Springs Baptist Church, where she was a faithful and active member for many years. One of her greatest joys was to cook for family and friends, especially shut-ins of the community. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, and will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2003 at Deep Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Knight and Rev. Jeff Moncier officiating. The graveside interment service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2003 at Deep Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deep Springs Cemetery Fund, c/o Jewell Price, 408 McGuire Road, Jefferson City, TN 37760, or to the Shady Grove Church Building Fund, c/o Betty Holt, 1835 Range Road, Dandridge, TN 37725.
