GLADYS HILL HANCE, age 99, of Dandridge, TN passed away Monday morning, October 29, 2007 at Baptist Hospital of Knoxville. A loving mother and grandmother, she was a member of the Lawson's Chapel United Methodist church and was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught at the Chestnut Hill School for many years. Preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hance; daughters, Emma Sue Hance and Jane Shadrake; son, Harold Hance; sisters, Inez and Ruby. Survived by son, Bill Hance and wife, Evelyn; daughters, Martha Blackburn and husband, Jim, Joan Hurst and husband, Elmer; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; sister, Mayme Ownby; daughter-in-law, Janice Hance. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to st. Jude Hospital for Children (in honor of great-grandson, Henry Hance), P. O. Box 1000, Dept. 300, Memphis, TN 38148-0552. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2007 from the Farrar Dandridge Chapel. Graveside interment services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lawson's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.
