Broadway Blvd. Jefferson City, TN 37760 Phone (865) 475-3892 Fax (865) 475-9916 OBITUARY: Geraldine Holmes DOWNS, aged 72, of Talbott, Tennessee passed away peacefully with her children and loved ones at her side at Anderson Memorial Hospital, Maryville, Illinois at 11:30 AM Friday December 10, 2004 as the result of complications of pneumonia. For the past year Mrs. Downs had made her home with her daughter and granddaughters in Troy, Illinois. Mrs. Downs was born on January 17, 1932 to Richard C. & Ola Virginia Carter Holmes in Old Hickory, TN. Mrs. Downs was a widowed homemaker proceeded in death by her husband, Joe R. Downs Sr, ; her parents, her brothers, Roy B. (Bo), Parmer Lee, and twins Calvin & William Holmes; and sister Ruth Minchy, all of Old Hickory, TN. She is survived by son, Joe R. Downs Jr. and beloved companion Kathy, of the home; daughters, Anna Renee McCollum and beloved companion Fred, of Lexington, KY, and Virginia Louise Ewart and husband Todd, of Troy, IL; grandson, Joe R. Downs III and wife Samantha of Taft, TN; granddaughters, Kyle Dean Ewart and Lauren Virginia Ewart of Troy, IL, and great-granddaughter, Tatum Michelle Downs of Taft, TN. In addition, Mrs. Downs is survived by brother, Carlton P. and wife, Joyce Holmes of Goodlettsville, TN; sisters Anna P. Mangrum and husband, Sie of Old Hickory, TN, Shirley J. Ramsey and husband, Charlie of Old Hickory, TN, Pauline H. Vaughn of Jefferson City, TN; and sisters-in-law, Margarite P. Holmes of Ridgetop, TN and Mavis P. Holmes of Madison, TN. Services for Mrs. Downs will be held at Hermitage Memorial Funeral Home, Old Hickory, TN on Sunday, December 12, 2004, with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m., services following. Additional services will be held at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City, TN on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m.. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with Reverend R. J. Seal and Reverend Bill Whitt officiating. A committal service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Jefferson City, TN at 11 a.m., Wednesday December 15, 2004. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Youth Ministry of Tower View Baptist Church, 2401 Lebanon Ave, Bellville, IL 62221.
