RAXTER, age 85, of Dandridge, TN passed away at home on March 28, 2007. He was born February 6, 1922 in Andrews, NC to the late Woody and Lola Raxter. He was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church in Dandridge and was retired from TVA in 1982 after 36 years of service. He loved to hunt, fish and garden. Preceding him in death were his sisters, Cathern Raxter, Polly Martin; brothers, Ralph, Ray and John Raxter; and grandson, Bobby Raxter. He is survived by his wife, Lena S. Raxter; daughter, Marie Hopwood and husband, Richard of Tullahoma, TN; sons, James E. Raxter and wife, Sherry, of Kingsport, TN, and Kermit Randall Raxter and wife, Nancy, of Church Hill, TN; sisters, Edith Curtis of Andrews, NC, Elizabeth "Cricket" McLelland of Hoschton, GA; brothers, Jack and Walter Raxter of Andrews, NC; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2007 at Deep Springs Baptist Church, 1476 Deep Springs Road, Dandridge, TN with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Mike Sledge officiating. Graveside interment service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Temple Hill Cemetery in Castlewood, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Residential Hospice, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938.
