OBITUARY:
GERALD RAY QUARLES, age 74, born June 19, 1931 and a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, TN, died at 11:20 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2006 at his home after a battle with cancer. A member of the First Baptist Church of Dandridge, he was employed at American Enka and BASF for 39 years, served in the 278th Air National Guard and was a Worshipful Master of the Mossy Creek Lodge # 353. Preceded in death by parents, Anna and Frank Quarles; son, Dale L. Quarles; sister, Mary Ellen Hardy; brothers, Foye, Wylie, and Glenn Quarles. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Jo Quarles; son, Jerry and wife, Gayle, of Jefferson City; grandson, Kelly and Candace of Jefferson City; granddaughter, Dr. Dana Quarles of Holyoke, MA; great granddaughter, Rylee Rae Quarles of Jefferson City; sisters, Georgia Myers and husband, Bill, of Knoxville, Carolyn Ellis of Jefferson City, Wylene Hatcher and husband, Maurice, of Jefferson City; special devoted friend, Betty Hazelwood of Talbott; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was devoted to the care and concern of his family. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2006 at Farrar Funeral Home with the Memorial Service to follow immediately at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Robert McCray officiating. Family and friends will gather at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 1:00 p.m. graveside interment service. Many thanks to the Thompson Cancer Center and St. MaryÂ?s Hospice for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Dandridge, 951 S.
