George E. Washington

George E. Washington, age 82, of White Pine, TN and formerly of West Alexandria, OH, passed away at his home on Monday, August 29, 2011. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a member of the White Pine Senior Citizens where he was dearly loved. He was also one of the founding members of the White Pine Bib Boys, a past president of the White Pine Lions Club, a 60 year member of King Hiram Lodge #88 in West Alexandria, OH. While in White Pine he attended Leadvale Lodge #390, and was also a member of the White Pine American Legion. Before coming to White Pine, he was an active business owner in Ohio, where he was the founder of Octoberfest in West Alexandria. George was an Army veteran and served his country during the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Ila McNeely Washington and grandson, Ben Pierce. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Wanda Washington; children, Don Bell, Denise Pierce and Kim Evans; grandchildren, Lisa and Mark Bell, Andrea Pierce, Kyler and Carman Evans; great-grandchildren, Damion and Victoria Chavis; brothers, Charles Washington and Harley Washington, Jr., both of West Alexandria, OH; also several nieces, nephews and other family members. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 5-7:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home in White Pine. Masonic Rites will be given at Thursday at 7:00pm with Leadvale Lodge #390 officiating. Funeral service will follow the Rites with Rev. Charles Robison officiating. A military graveside interment service will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011 at White Pine Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in George?s name be sent to White Pine Senior Citizen Center or to the White Pine Bib Boys, 1824 Maple Street, White Pine, TN 37890.
