George W. Smelcer, Sr., MSgt (Ret) USAF

GEORGE W. SMELCER, Sr., MSgt (Ret) USAF, age 82 of Dandridge, TN, passed away Saturday evening, November 20, 2004 at his home. George was the son of the late Adam and Lola Strange Smelcer and was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters. He was a member of the Hills Union United Methodist Church and was a retired Master Sergeant of the U.S. Air Force, having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Member of the V.F.W. POST # 3380 and the Tennessee Law Enforcement Assoc. Survived by wife, Billie Duffie Smelcer; children, Kimball Smelcer, Nadine Dinchum, George Smelcer, Jr., Judith Bolin, Michael Smelcee, Teresa Francis, Donna Henderson and James Smelcer; 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Ray Smelcer and Gene Smelcer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004 at Hills Union United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Brewer officiating. Interment with military honors by Robins AFB Honor Guard to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers,the family requests that memorials be made to St. Mary's Hospice,7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938.
