DAVIS, JR., age 58, (Sunrise, April 1, 1947; Sunset, February 28, 2006) entered eternal rest at his home in Talbott, TN following a lengthy illness due to complications from a stroke. George was faithfully cared for by his beloved wife of 28 years, Sharon, and at the time of his death was surrounded by his loving family. In death he is reunited with his mother, Doris Ann (Allen) Davis and his grandparents, Shan and Catherine Davis and Bertha and Glen Allen. In addition to his wife, George leaves his daughter, Crystal Smith of Talbott; daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Jeremy Sutton of White Pine; father and step-mother, George H., Sr. and Mary Davis of Townsend; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Vennis Cate of White Pine; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Jimmie Wilson of Cosby; step-sister and husband, Linda and Benny Davis of Townsend; aunt, Beulah Gregory of Ohio; niece, Tina Wilson of Cosby; nephew, Doug Davis of Townsend; uncles, Charlie Davis of Blount County and Mike Allen of South Carolina. George was a member of Unity Baptist Church of White Pine and will be remembered as a caring and kind neighbor and a loving father. An avid Vol fan and outdoorsman, he leaves many friends and neighbors who spent countless hours sitting with him. Special friends include J. C. Rines, Bobby Massengill, Wanda Thompson, Bill Turpin, Danny Henderson, Chuck Cagle, Billy Massengill, Chuck Letterman, and Leo and Barbara Robinson. George attended East Tennessee State University and was a former Chief of Police of White Pine, Tennessee. Prior to his illness, he was employed by Price and Price Mechanical. The family especially thanks Dr. Jill Robinson, Heather Shultz with Housecall, and Karen Reece with Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend Bud Cagle and Chaplain Chuck Letterman officiating. Family and friends will gather at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2006 at the funeral home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 2:00 p.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
