GEORGE E. GEIS, age 90, of Dandridge, TN passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at the Heritage Center of Morristown. He was born June 26, 1917 and raised in Royal Oak, MI, the son of the late George E. and Regina Ehnis Geis. He graduated from Royal Oak High School in 1934 and went on to serve with the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II and upon his return from service, he spent many years in the dry cleaning business, eventually opening his own dry cleaning service with his wife, Ann. He later entered the banking industry, where he served as an officer and branch manager for the Manufactures National Bank of Rochester, MI for 23 years. Upon his retirement in July 1979, he and Ann moved to Dandridge, TN, where they have enjoyed their remaining years. George was an active member of the Dandridge First United Methodist Church, where he served 10 years as church treasurer and 19 years in the Senior Adult Choir and was also a member of the Dandridge Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Ann C. Dunlop Geis. He is survived by daughter, Marianne Schneider of Pompano Beach, FL; son, Craig Geis of Pensacole, FL; sister, Jeanette Hilton of Holiday, FL; brother-in-law, Gerald Dunlop; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Dunlop and Mary Dunlop; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the DFUMC Choir Fund, P.O. Box 8, Dandridge, TN 37725. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2007 from the Farrar Dandridge Chapel with Rev. Larry DeVault and Rev. Ron Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
