George "Chubby" Washington Walker

GEORGE “CHUBBY” WASHINGTON WALKER, JR. – age 82, of Jefferson City, TN passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013. George was a member of Talbott Baptist Church. He was active for many years as a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 194. George was also was an active member of Masonic Lodge #353, having served several turns as Worshipful Master. After a successful career, George enjoyed traveling, farming, and restoring his 1931 A-Model. He was a deeply devoted family man. George was preceded in death by his father and mother, George Washington and Annie Walker; in-laws Frank and Mable Clifton; sons, Timothy and Anthony Walker; and siblings, Gertrude Oliver, Edith Hall, and Buford Walker. George is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ruth Walker; son and daughter-in-law, Scotty and Michelle Walker; grandson, Justin (Laura) Walker; granddaughter, Lindsey (Jason) Woods; step-grandchildren, Drew and Erin Bailey; great-grandchildren, Grant and Maggie Woods; and sister, Betty Sturgill. In addition, George leaves behind many special friends and family. The family will receive friends Friday, September 27, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. Funeral service to follow with Reverend Mike Henegar and Reverend Mac Hayes officiating. Masonic service provided by Mossy Creek Lodge #353 will be held prior to the funeral service. Family and friends will gather at Farrar Funeral Home Saturday morning at 10:15 and proceed to Jefferson Memorial Garden for an 11:00 A.M. military graveside service.
