Broadway Blvd. Jefferson City, TN 37760 Phone (865) 475-3892 Fax (865) 475-9916 OBITUARY: GENEVA TRAMMELL BISHOP, age 84 of Jefferson City, TN, passed away at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, August 16, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville, TN. Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her parents, U.S. and Lassie Trammell. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She was employed as a teacher in Rutledge and Jefferson City for 27 years, then served as Upper Tennessee Supervisor of Home Economics with the State Department of Education for 12 years. She served in many leadership positions in both the Tennessee and the National Home Economics Associations. She also received many honors in her 39 years in education, including the Distinguished Service Award from the Department of Education. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Sidney Bishop of Jefferson City; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Laura Bishop of Norcross, Georgia and David and Debbie Bishop of New Tazewell, Tennessee; grandchildren, William and Lyn Bishop of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Jennifer and Allison Bishop of Norcross, Georgia, Matthew and Sarah Bishop of New Tazewell, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary Louise Trammell of Lake City, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Leota and Tommy Overton of LaFollette and Charlotte and Lendon Welch of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening, August 18, 2005 from the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City with Dr. Gene Wilder and Reverend Henry Davidson officiating. Family and friends will gather at 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2005 at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 10:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening prior to the service at the church.
