Gaylor Robert “Bob” Durkee passed away at his residence on January 7, 2020. Bob was raised in Ortonville, MI to Robert and Dorothy Durkee. After graduating from high School in 1959, he enlisted into the Air Force where he served at Kinchelow AF Base in Sault Sainte Marie, MI. The love of flying led him to be hired at Delta Air Lines in 1969. This started a 30 year career with Delta Air Lines in Avionics in Georgia before his retirement in the late 90’s. He was also a volunteer fireman and fire chief in Woolsey, GA. After retiring, he moved to Dandridge, TN where he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sevierville.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda K. Durkee, parents, Robert and Dorothy Roberts Durkee, stepmother, Mary Durkee, brother, Robert Durkee and son, Ephraim Ingram.
He is survived by his sons, Christopher (Shawna) Durkee of Ohio, Scott (Kati) Durkee of South Carolina and George (Marcia) Ingram of Georgia, daughter, Shirley (Janet) Ingram of Georgia, grandchildren, Christopher, Austin, Jamie, Eldon, Eli, Will, and Lulu, great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Miles, Ethan, Suzie, Silas and Maverick
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Dandridge with Rev. Tim Riordan officiating. Family visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Graveside inurnment will be 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Camp Memorial Park Cemetery in Fayetteville, GA.
