GASTON LAVELLE COLLINS, SR., age 89, passed away at his daughter’s home in Dandridge, Tennessee on Monday, November 10, 2014. He was a World War II veteran in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the Moselle Memorial Baptist Church in Moselle, Mississippi. He was owner of Collins Superette and was a postal carrier in Moselle. In Dandridge, he was owner of a wholesale company for almost 20 years. He and his wife, Mini, lived in Dandridge, Tennessee for over 20 years before moving back to Mississippi after retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Mignon Carter Collins; one son, Gaston L. (Rusty) Collins, Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Heather Stanley; one great-great-granddaughter, Macklin Clifton; two sons-in-law, David Williamson and Willie Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mini Lois Lindley Collins; four daughters, Janie Thompson and Betty Williamson (Buck) of Moselle, Mississippi, and Susan Greene, and Joanne Cate (Don) of Dandridge, Tennessee, and one son, Eddie Collins (Nancy) of Dandridge, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at Moselle Memorial Baptist Church on Friday, November 14, 2014. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and service will follow at 7:00 p.m. by Brother John Sumner. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Moselle Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bryan Clifton, Chase Stanley, Blake Thompson, Shelby Thompson, Austin Collins, Garrett Collins, Ricky Thompson and Chad Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackson Clifton, Haden Stanley, Lane Ike, Ike Collins, Lavelle Collins, Dusty Collins and Cameron Anderson. We would also like to thank their caregivers, Caris Hospice, Camellia Home Health, and the Department of Veterans for their help and concern. And a special thanks to John Dell Huckabee and other friends and families for their support and visitation. In lieu of flowers, Mini has requested donations to the Nursery Department at Moselle Baptist Church, Moselle Mississippi, or First Baptist Church, Dandridge, Tennessee.
