He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Vulcan Materials. Preceded in death by parents, Hollis and Helen Northern and brother, Danny Northern, all of New Market. He is survived by wife, Cora Byrd Northern; sons, Charles Hollis Northern and Micheal (Jennifer) Northern, all of New Market; daughter, Melody (Bryan) McKinley of Dandridge; grandsons, Dustin, Shawn and Trace McKinley, all of Dandridge; granddaughters, Carolyn Holiday of Lexington, KY, Maria and Paige Horn of New Market; sisters, Joann (Edward) Nicely of New Market, and Cynthia Rice of New Market; brother, Barry (Sara) Northern of New Market; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend Dale Mitchell, Reverend Paul Whaley and Reverend Willis Miller officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home to proceed to Pleasant Grove Hayworth Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
