Fred Hampton Durman, of Morristown, TN passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at Morristown Hamblen Hospital. Preceded in death by his parents, William Ward Hampton Durman and Nancy Durman, and beloved sister, Patricia Rogers. Survived by wife, Louise Durman,; son, Chris Durman and wife Candice; grandson, William Marshall Hampton Durman; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Fred served in the Air Force during the Korean War in Alaska and Montana. He attended Carson-Newman College and retired from the insurance and newspaper businesses and his father?s business, Walters Manufacturing. Born in New Castle, IN, he grew up in Limestone and Morristown, TN. He was involved in The Theater Guild of Morristown in its early stages. He passed along his love of music to his son, Chris. Fred?s greatest passion was preserving and restoring historic homes. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jefferson County Historical Society, P.O. Box 325, Dandridge, TN 37725. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Westview Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service with eulogy to be given by Patrick Helms. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2011 at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City, TN.
