Franklin G Day
December 30, 1949 – July 15, 2019
Frank has gone home to meet his Lord and Savior having succumbed to complications from lung cancer.
He was 69 years old and is survived by his wife of 46 years, Terry. He was the devoted father of Michael
(Kristen) Day of Centennial, CO; Kelly (John) Kelly of Grove City, PA; and David (Molly) Day of
Sudbury, MA. Frank is also survived by his sisters, Clara Jean (Andrew) Sedlock of Mechanicsville,
MD; Cathy (Mike) Ellis of Spotsylvania, VA; and brother Richard Day of Charleston, WV. He was
preceded in death by his mother, Sophia Hopke and step-father Frank T Hopke.
Frank loved being called Pap by his Grandsons Marcus and Lucas Kelly and Granddaughters Natalie
Kelly and Erin and Audrey Day. Frank truly loved all of his extended family including sisters and
brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Frank was a proud USMC veteran having served in Vietnam from 1968-1971. He was an avid
motorcycle rider, and collegiate and professional sports fan. He treasured the friendships that were borne
out of his riding clubs and football tailgates. He loved his Lord and Savior and would talk to anyone at
length about his favorite book, the Bible. Once retired, he loved traveling the country in his beloved
motorhome, named “Happy Days”. Frank never met a stranger he couldn’t turn into a friend. His home
was always open to anyone stopping by and was just so proud to show off his dream home “Day’s
Landing....Almost Heaven”, on Douglas Lake in the mountains of eastern Tennessee.
