FOSTER THOMAS HAMPTON, III age 77, of New Market, TN and formerly of Chattanooga, TN went home to be with Jesus on November 28, 2019 after an extended illness with renal disease and Parkinson’s. Foster was born on March 2, 1942 to Foster Hampton, Jr. and Evelyn Gage Hampton in Columbus, OH. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Then received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis, TN. He practiced as an orthopedic surgeon for 30 years in Chattanooga, TN and Morristown, TN. He served as a Captain in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He earned several medals including: Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, two Overseas Service Bars, and Bronze Star Medal. Foster is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet C. Hampton; and by his two daughters, Elizabeth Hampton Kerr and husband, Jeffrey G. Kerr; Ruth Anne Hampton and fiance, Will Cortez. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Christopher Michael Trahan and wife, Karlie, Joshua John Trahan, and Rebekah Anne Kerr. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Farrar Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with niece and deaconess Amy Leachman officiating. Military graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the East Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery in Knoxville, TN with VFW Post #5266 presiding.
