Floyd E. "Shorty" Hardy, age 82 of Dandridge, TN passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 11, 2004 at his home following an extended illness. He was the son of the late William Taylor Hardy and Minnie Cooper Hardy. Preceded in death by step mother, Grace Swann Hardy; brother, Clifford Hardy; brothers and sisters in law, Fred T. and Betty Hodge Hardy, Charlie Frank and Mary Ellen Quarles Hardy; sister and brother in law, Alice Hardy Witt and Ralph Witt; nieces, Patsy Sams Vaughn and Mary Charles Hardy Herndon; brothers in law, Charles M. Hale, Winfred E. Moore and Billy Sams. Mr. Hardy was a long time active member of the First Baptist Church of Dandridge and was a member of the Dandridge Lions Club, Brazelton Lodge # 190 F & AM, Dandridge V.F. W. Post # 3380, Martha Dandridge Chapter OES # 438, Kerbela Shrine Temple, Royal Arch Mason Jefferson Chapter # 61, Morristown Commandery # 22, Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies. A naval veteran of World War II, he was retired from American Enka Corp of Lowland, TN. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Gerry Painter Hardy; daughter and son in law, Julianne Hardy Martin and Kenny Martin; granddaughters, Hannah Martin and Megan Martin; sister, Mrs. Billy (Lettie Mae) Sams of Talbott; sister in law, Mrs. Charles M. (Bea) Hale of Hollywood, AL and Mrs. Winfred E. (Carrie) Moore of Dandridge; several nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Gwen Davis, glen Ballinger, Clyde Priceand Harold Dockery; and a host of friends. The family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 246, Dandridge, TN 37725. Graveside funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery with Dr. Robert McCray officiating. Friends may call at their convenience Friday afternoon and evening from 4 until 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Dandridge, where the body will lie in state.
