Eula Gladys Smelcer Coleman

Eula Gladys Smelcer Coleman, age 94, of Dandridge, TN passed away Wednesday morning, January 19, 2011, at Jefferson County Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was born on February 6, 1916 in Chestnut Hill and attended Hills Union Methodist Church. She married and moved to the Swannsylvania Community, where she enjoyed cooking for her family, planting big gardens, sewing and quilting. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Luella Smelcer; husband, Varge (Bob) Coleman; brothers James and Lawrence Smelcer; and sister, Maudie Whaley. She is survived by her children, daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Alan Wasik of Strawberry Plains; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Dawn Coleman; grandchildren, Russell and Taylor Coleman; and brother, Arlie Smelcer of Knoxville. Funeral service will be held at Farrar Funeral Home on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 7:00pm, with the Rev. Mike Hensley and Rev. Dennis Strange officiating. Family will receive friends from 5-7:00pm prior to the service on Thursday. Graveside interment will be on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 2:00pm in Hills Union Cemetery.
