Eugene E. Peck, age 94, of Jefferson City, Tennessee, passed away at 2:10 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2003, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice following a lingering illness. He was a member of Boyd Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the choir and held numerous offices, member of First United Methodist Church Keenagers, the Community College Council, Jefferson County Education Association, Tennessee Education Association, the National Education Association, and the Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association. He retired from the Jefferson County School system after serving more than 45 years as a teacher and principal. He was named Man of the Year by the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce in 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ophelia Lowe Peck; mother, Leola Peck Bassett; sister, Florence Peck Treece. he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara P. and James Dean of Jefferson City; son, Joseph Michael Peck of Cleveland, Ohio; son and daughte in law, Stephen C. and Arlene B. Peck, of Jefferson City; granddaughters, Michella M. Peck of New York, Ophelia Peck Dean of California, Carolyn Arlene Peck of Florida; grandsons and wives, Mark Edward Dean of Arizona, Stephen Clark Peck II of Georgia, Michael Eugene and rachel Marzouca Peck of Florida; great granddaughters, Sarah Livingston Peck of Georgia, and Carly Marie Peck of Florida; devoted niece and husband, Margaret Treece and Clinton Gulley of Florida, and nephew, John R. Treece of Jefferson City; great niece, Candice Gulley of Florida; great nephew and wife, Clinton and Melissa Gulley II; great great nephews, Clinton Gulley III and Miles Cameron Gulley; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003 from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Jefferson City with Rev. E. O. Cole officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.
