Euel E. (Pappy) Winstead

EUEL E. (PAPPY) WINSTEAD, age 76, of Jefferson City, TN passed away at 7:22 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Euel was the owner-operator of Cherokee Shell for over 24 years. He was very active in law enforcement in Jefferson County, serving in the capacity of constable for over 25 years. He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Navy. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucy Winstead; son-in-law, Jack Lowe; sisters, Jessie and Louise Winstead. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gladys (Mamaw) Winstead; daughter, Betty Winstead Lowe of New Market; granddaughter and husband, Jamie and Stephen Dyke of Morristown; sisters, Mrs. Frank (Ruth) Charles of Rogersville, Mrs. Walt (Ann) Leroy of Lexington, KY; Mrs. Jay (Evelyn) Hamblen of Rogersville; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Marlyn Winstead of Rogersville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2003 from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2003 at the funeral home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral services.
