ETHEL SLOVER YARDLEY, age 87, of Mascot, TN passed away Saturday morning, January 31, 2009 at the Jefferson County Nursing Home following a long illness. Ethel was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and was a true animal lover at heart, being known to have as many as 15 dogs at one time. Ethel was the bookkeeper for the Yardley Well Drilling Co., the family business for over 45 years and was a faithful member of the Roseberry Baptist Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George D. Yardley, Sr., and six brothers and sisters. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, George, Jr. and Billie Napier Yardley; grandson, Joshua Yardley, all of Dandridge; brothers-in-law, Danny and Cindy Yardley and Chip Yardley, all of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of the Jefferson County Nursing Home for their care and compassion. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening, February 2, 2009 at the Family Life Center of the Roseberry Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Shinlever officiating. Interment graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Roseberry Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Roseberry Family Life Center prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Roseberry Family Life Center Fund, 2920 Roseberry Road, Mascot, TN 37806.
