Obituary:
ETHEL VESSER BEETS, age 102 of Knoxville, TN passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2007. She was born, February 16, 1905 in Jefferson Co., TN the daughter of the late James and Martha Williford Vesser. Preceded in death by her husband, Bob Beets; brothers, Marshall ?Red? Vesser, Manley ?Preacher? Vesser and sister, Ruby Diehl. Ethel was a faithful member of the Lincoln Park Baptist Church where she sang in the Golden Notes Choir and worked in the special education department as long as her health permitted. She was very talented in all arts and crafts and enjoyed quilting as she shared her talents with anyone interested in learning. She learned to paint at age 65 when she retired from the Whites Stores and gave many of her paintings to friends. She will be remembered for her sunny disposition and her desire and willingness to help people. She will be missed by everyone whose life she touched. The family wishes to thank Sara and Linda and all the employees of River Oaks of Loudon for their loving care. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to Lincoln Park Baptist Church, 830 Chicamagua Ave., Knoxville, TN 37917. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Collins of Knoxville; grandchildren, Joel Collins and wife, Carol, Mark Collins and wife, Cindy; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jason and Kelly; niece, Phyllis Moss and a very special friend (adopted daughter), Kathleen Arp. Funeral service Friday, 12:00 (Noon) at Stevens Mortuary, 1304 Oglewood Ave., Knoxville with Rev. Ted Ingram and Rev. Ron Wine officiating. Interment graveside services to follow at 3:00 PM at French Broad Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Dandridge, TN. Family will receive friends, Friday morning, 11:00 to 12:00 prior to services at Stevens Mortuary.
