Elmer Glen Greer

Elmer Glen Greer, USAF MSG (Ret), age 76, of Dandridge, TN passed away at his home on March 13, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Glen was born and raised in Greene Co, and is a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Glen served in three different branches, the Army, Navy and 119th Air Refueling Wing in Knoxville, and was an active member of VFW Post #3380 and the Dandridge Senior Citizens. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, who was the love of his life, Joann R. Laws Greer; parents, Connley and Cordie Greer; brother, Rube Greer; and brother-in-law James Ross. Survivors include his wife, Helen Fain Greer; children, Pam and Darrell Knight, Lois and Ben McCoig and Rocky and Jackie Greer; grandchildren, Katrina Grindstaff, Jason and Eva McCoig, Heather and Daniel Ellison, Erik Greer and Aaron Greer; great-grandchildren, Bailey Horner, Lexi, Dylan and Breanna Ellison, Keith McCoig, Emma Kate McCoig and Kaylee Bargo; sisters, Hattie Wykle and Lucille Ross. The family would like to thank Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice for their loving hearts and caring hands. Avery special thanks goes to Tuan, Heather, Sherman, Meagan, Bethany, Melanie, Jeff, Lauren and Chaplain Mike Sledge and Glen Bradley. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 8:00pm in the chapel of Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge with the Rev. Charlie Harkleroad officiating, family will receive friends from 6-8:00pm prior to the service. Graveside interment with full military honors given by VFW Post # 5266 will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 11:00am at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be sent to either Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice or to the Jefferson Co.
