Ellen R. (Young) Howell

Ellen R. (Young) Howell of Jefferson City, Tennessee died Friday, 22nd of May at Tennova (St. Mary’s) Hospital. She was born on July 30, 1930, in Middlesboro, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Rev. A.C. Young and Lou Violet Young. Ellen Ruth was also preceded in death by a second loving family of Walter and Alma Bryant, as well as brothers, Columbus Bryant of San Jose, CA, and Eugene Bryant, and her sister Delilah Fagin. After high school, she met and married John Franklin Howell of Jefferson City, who cherished her and their union for over 64 years. She was proud to be a career homemaker and provided a wonderful home for her husband and family. Ellen Ruth is also survived by her children – Debra Howell of Jefferson City and Ron Howell of Peoria Heights, Illinois. She is also survived by her brother Cornelius Bryant of San Antonio, TX, and sisters Sally Collins of Cincinnati, OH, Rudene Mitchell of Fayetteville, NC, and Corrine Hicks of Chicago, IL. She was a member of the Martha Davis Baptist Church and a member of the Senior Choir. Ellen Ruth served as choir treasurer and later served as president. Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Farrar Funeral Home with Rev. Nathaniel Wilson officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
