ELIZABETH BALDWIN PRATT, age 106, of Miami, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday evening, February 19, 2011 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Gordon and Katherine Marshall of Dandridge, TN. Elizabeth was born in Callahan, FL on December 23, 1904 and graduated from Callahan Sr High School in 1922. Her mother, Bessie Baldwin, had died in 1917 and after her high school graduation, Elizabeth and her sister, Mattie, and her father, Stonewall Jackson Baldwin, moved to rejoin her brother, Jack, to live in Miami, FL. Elizabeth married Donald Pratt in 1933 and they were married for over 50 years. Together they built a home in the "Roads Section" of Miami in 1936 and were both founding members of the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church near their home. Both before and after marriage, until 1936, Elizabeth worked at Llewellyn Machinery Corporation in Miami and then retired to raise her three daughters. After 20 years, she returned to work at Leonard Bisz Real Estate Appraisers Office with her sister, Mattie B. Harvey. In 1984, Elizabeth's husband, Donald Pratt passed away. She had been his caregiver since he became disabled in the late 1960's. She continued to work with her sister until they both retired in 1989. Elizabeth was 85 years of age when she retired. Elizabeth was a member of the Miami Pioneers Club, the DAR, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She is survived by her three daughters, Betty Jo Lavelle and her husband, Joe, Katherine Marshall and her husband, Gordon, and Margaret Croucher and her husband, Bill. Betty Jo and Katherine reside in Dandridge, TN, while Margaret splits her time between Miami and Merritt Island, FL. She is also survived by six grandchildren. The Lavelle children are Joseph and Caroline (Goins), the Marshall children are Steven and Susan, and the Croucher children are Karen (Trainor) and Jeffrey. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren whose names are Sarah, Anthony and Robert Goins, Isabella, Madeleine and Murphy Lavelle, and Rowan and Ainsley Trainor. Elizabeth will be sadly missed by her family and friends and neighbors. We will keep her memory in our hearts, where they will last a lifetime. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Jefferson County Humane Society, PO Box 653, Jefferson City, TN 37760. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jefferson City, TN with Rev. Father Dan Whitman officiating. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial service will be held at Van Orsdale Funeral Home in Miami, FL.
