Eldridge Louis (“Dit”) Shively, age 92 of Talbott passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Neal Shively, Sr., and Flossie Harris Shively; brothers Robert Neal “Bob” Shively, Jr., Norman “Foot” Shively, and Otis Shively; sisters-and brothers-in-law Betty Sue and Bud Bales, Patsy and Tommy Bettis, Bob Bruce and Jack Glenn; and Paul Frayer, who was like a son. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Ella Dean Dawson Shively; sisters-in-law, Joann Bruce and Barbara Glenn; several nieces and nephews; and close friend and business associate, Marcos Lozano. Dit was born in what is now Eden, North Carolina. He served his country as an Army Medic in the Korean War.
He worked in construction all over the country for 20 years before moving into the antiques business, which was his joy and passion right up until his death.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Farrar Funeral Home in White Pine. The funeral will follow with Pastor Sean Glenn officiating.
