Reverend Edison Collins, age 76, of passed away Friday, October 7, 2011 following a lingering illness. A resident of Jefferson City, TN, he was born April 29, 1935 in Morristown, TN. Ed was a loving and devoted husband, father and proud grandfather. He departed this world to receive the precious gift of eternal life with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a devoted Christian and the pastor of Northview Church of God in Kodak, TN for the past 33 years. He lived his life spending many hours a day studying the Bible, praying, visiting the sick, ministering to the lost and reaching out to the needs of others with a loving, compassionate heart. He had a special love for all animals. He lived a life wrapped in the love of Jesus. Ed would have us remember one thing; know Jesus, live, walk, trust and rest in him. His family cherishes the memories of his faithful love for all, which was rooted in Jesus faithful love for him. Ed loved his family and friends, teaching about the love of Christ and reaching out to those in need was his passion. He touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity and maintained his trademark sense of humor and unconditional kindness to the end. He truly was a loyal and faithful child of God who will be missed upon this earth, but never forgotten. He fought a good fight and ran a good race and has now received his reward, residing in Glory, his eternal home with his Lord and Savior. Ed is veteran of the United States Army, serving with distinction as a decorated soldier during the Korean Conflict while stationed in Germany. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the military never left him as family and friends will attest. He worked at Magnovox in Jefferson City for 24 years before becoming disabled and was affectionately known to everyone there as ?Hound Dog?. Ed is preceded in death by his son, William Randle Collins; parents, Phillip and Bessie Collins; sister, Anna Mae Coffey; brothers, Howard, Floyd and Brownie Collins. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Betty Jean Collins of Jefferson City; son, David Collins of Newnan, GA and daughter and daddy?s little girl, Lori Ann (Joe) Fouty; and cherished grandchildren, Lilly, Maddie and Joey ?Bug? Fouty all of Newnan, GA; sister, Myrtle Kinsler of Kingsport, TN; brother, Leroy (Jerry) Collins of Morristown, TN; sister-in-law, Sue Collins of Hot Springs, NC; several nieces and nephews, along with many extended family, friends and caretaker, Heather Noonkesser. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service in celebration of his life on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City with Reverend Jerry Wolfenbarger and Reverend A.V. King officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 2:00 p.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
