ED WALTERS, age 87, of New Market, TN passed away December 28, 2009 at Life Care of Jefferson City after an extended battle with Parkinson Disease. He was born April 12, 1922 in Union County and moved to Jefferson County in 1935 when the Norris Dam TVA project claimed their farm. He was a dedicated member of Loy Memorial Methodist Church, now New Market Methodist Church. He was a prominent Jefferson County farmer and worked for many years for the American Tobacco Company and Western Avenue Tobacco Warehouse of Knoxville. Ed was a World War II veteran, having served in the 5th Army, 85th Infantry Division, Custer Division, 328th Artillery Battalion, Battery C in North Africa and Italy. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Loy Walters; parents, O. N. and Lilly Stone Walters; sister, Mossie Lee (Bee) Walters Haworth; and brother, John Walters. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Beth and their children, Evan, Andrew and Alexander Walters and Grant Means; Sam and Marda and their children, Ashley (Lee) and Damon Walters, Liz Brendel-Horn and Thomas Brendel; Michael and Trecia and their son, Timothy; Mark and Mary and their children, Julie and Jill; sisters, Hazel Walters Butcher, Ruth Walters Loy, Nell Walters Mitchell, Polly Walters Stiner; several nieces, nephews and many loving and caring friends and neighbors. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, December 30, 2009 at the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend Dennis Loy and Reverend Henry Harlow officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305, or to New Market United Methodist Church, c/o Rev.
