Drama Virginia Silver Robeson passed from this life into the next on March 20, 2025, at the milestone age of 95.
Mrs. Robeson was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Edward Delwin Robeson, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Leonard Silver (Ada Bateman), two sisters, Betty S. Watkins and Clara S. Cate and three brothers, Wayne K. Silver, Neal Y. Silver, and William C. Silver. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Lynette Robeson Utley and her husband Jeffery of Ooltewah, TN, and a son, David Allen Robeson and his wife Anita of Ardmore, AL. She leaves behind grandchildren, Paige Lynette Utley Maskarinec and her husband, Brian, and Lee Houston Robeson and his wife Jenny, and a great-granddaughter, Violet Lynette Maskarinec. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Robeson served in many capacities at her church. She became a member of her Flat Gap Baptist church choir when she was 11 and at the age of 12 became the pianist of that church. When she married Delwin she joined his Methodist Church where they both served as youth counselors. When they moved to Knoxville she joined Trinity United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN and served as President of the Trinity United Methodist Women, served on the Church Council, taught a youth Bible Study, taught adult Sunday School, and was a member of the Chancel Choir for decades.
She was also active in her community. Through the years Mrs. Robeson served as President of Norwood Garden Club, President of the Knox County Council of Garden Clubs, Treasurer of the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, and Open Gardens Chairman of the Dogwood Arts Festival of Knoxville. The Board of Racheff Gardens planted an azalea at Racheff Gardens in Knoxville in her honor. Mrs. Robeson served four years as Assistant Director and an Advisor to the Teen Board of Knoxville. She was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), serving in many capacities including Regent twice, Chaplain, Director, and Parliamentarian of the Andrew Bogle Chapter. She served three years as Treasurer of the Knox County Council of Regents, three years as Director of the Appalachian District, and three years as Chaplain of the Tennessee State Society of the DAR. Mrs. Robeson also served as Regent, then Chaplain of the Daughters of the American Colonists, and was a member of The Colonial Dames of America (Chapter VII), and the General Henry Knox Chapter of the National Society Daughters of 1812.
Mrs. Robeson also shared her talent for organization by working in the dental office of Dr. Robert Sterling and Dr. Mark Biagi. She was a loving wife and mother, a dedicated Christian, and a leader in most any group in which she participated.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Robeson will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City, TN on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 2:00 pm. Dr. Darris Doyal and Rev. Barbara Clark will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 5613 Western Ave, Knoxville, TN 37921.
