Dorothy Davis Muncy

DOROTHY DAVIS MUNCY, age 79 of Jefferson City, Tennessee, died on Thursday, February 19, 2004. She was a native of Knoxville, Tennessee and the daughter of the late Robert Ernest and Ethel McDonald Davis. In 1945, Dorothy graduated from the Knoxville General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She was also a certified American National Red Cross nurse. She enjoyed a long and rewarding career, which included specialized nursing positions at St. Mary?s Hospital and Parkwest Hospital. In 1980, she retired as charge nurse from Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City. After retiring, she continued her involvement with nursing by serving as a Pink Lady at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. She was passionate about her nursing, but her main love and focus was her family. She was the ultimate example of kindness and compassion. She taught her children and grandchildren to appreciate music, art, and literature. She taught them the joy of giving to others, the unlimited opportunities of learning, and the ultimate rewards of spiritual growth. She was a member of St. John?s Cathedral in Knoxville. She loved her church and was active as long as her health would permit. Dorothy Davis Muncy was gentleness. She will be forever missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She was a loving mother. Survived by her children, Robert and Joyce Muncy of Louisville, KY, Bill and Ann Fischer of Knoxville, TN, Stephen and Dorothy Kuffler of Atlanta, GA, Estle and Maria Muncy of Knoxville, TN, and James and Sandy Muncy of Jefferson City, TN. She was a nurturing grandmother. Survived by her grandchildren, Mary Muncy, Robby Muncy, Laura Fischer Schmidt, Ben Fischer, Robert Longmire, Rachael Muncy, Noah Muncy, Zac Muncy, Andrew Muncy, and Jacque Muncy. She was a devoted sister. Survived by her sister, Betty Ruth Davis of Knoxville, TN. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 23, 2004, at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Monday prior to the memorial service. Family and friends will gather at 2:15 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn Cemetery for a 2:30 p.m. graveside interment service.
