Dorothy DeVault Milligan

DOROTHY DEVAULT MILLIGAN, age 94, went to her eternal home on November 11, 2011. She was born June 10, 1917 in White Pine, TN. Dorothy was the daughter of Bess M. and Robert Martin DeVault and twin to Doris. She graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC, and from the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY. She was a homemaker and volunteer Christian educator. Dorothy married Dr. Thomas Braden Milligan, Sr. in 1945 and was widowed in 1974. They spent most of their married life in Pineville, LA and Jefferson County, TN. Surviving relatives include her twin sister, Doris DeVault; sons, Thomas B. Jr. and Robert Mark of Jefferson County; daughter, Doris Lynn Taylor of Eustis, FL; grandchildren, David L. Milligan of Macon, GA and Meredith M. Suits of Nashville, TN. Dorothy was preceded to heaven by her parents, husband, and infant son, Robert David; and brothers, Robert, Leonard and Edwin DeVault. A celebration of life will be held at Lebanon Baptist Church in Talbott, TN at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2011 with Rev. R. J. Seal officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Following the service, interment will be at Gray Cemetery in Gray, TN at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Lebanon Baptist Church of Carson-Newman College.
