Dorothy Ferguson

OBITUARY: DOROTHY OPAL BURKE FERGUSON, age 77, of Washburn, TN, born February 3, 1926, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2004 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Dorothy was an accomplished basket weaver, and enjoyed fishing and tending her extensive flower and vegetable gardens. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Bobbi Givens Burke; husband, Kay W. Ferguson; six sisters and three brothers. She is survived by sons, James Ferguson and Kyle Ferguson, both of Washburn, TN, Thomas Ferguson of Willow Springs, MO; daughters, Dr. Cathy Johnson of Powder Springs and Joyce Brown of Erin; grandchildren, Laurel Johnson, Joshua Ferguson, Jason Ferguson, Maelinda Ferguson, Nicholas Ferguson, Rebecca Ferguson, Stephen Brown, Jeffrey Brown and Michael Brown; and fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Ova Turner of Morristown and Alpha Burke of Sneedville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2004 at Washburn Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Beeler and Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. The body will lie in state from 12 noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Burke Cemetery in Sneedville, TN. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2004 at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City.
