Dorothy Lee (Baxter) Edmonds age 82 of Dandridge TN passed away in the presence of her loving family on Saturday March 4, 2023. The angels were there to call her safely home to her Lord in heaven. Dorothy died after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born, November 30, 1940 the daughter of the Houston and Hesta (Loveday) Baxter and was preceded in death by her loving Son, David W. Edmonds and brother, Doyle ( Tommy) Baxter. Dorothy was many things to many people. She was an incredible mother and her favorite role was Granny and she was excited about being a great granny. She loved her grandchildren’. It was the one thing that brought a smile to her face even when she was in the worst pain of her life. All the neighborhood kids and her nieces and nephews that she cared for called her “Do-Do” and still do. She was a second mom to so many and a true friend to all that knew her. She had a forgiving heart and never judged. She loved you and accepted you as you were. Mom loved quilting, reading, cooking and growing beautiful flowers in her yard. She also enjoyed going to yard sales and eating out trying different foods when the opportunity came. Dorothy gave of herself whether it be time, food, or money to help others in need, she touched many lives throughout her lifetime. She was our Angel on Earth and now our Angel in heaven. Dorothy was a member of Full Gospel Ministries Church in Dandridge and retired after 29 years of service from Jefferson County Nursing home. She loved everyone she cared for and always gave excellent care, Being a CNA came naturally to her for she loved each of her patients as if they were her family. She was a loving, caring Mother, Granny, Great Granny, sister, and friend to many people and was loved by all. She is survived by son, Allen Edmonds, daughters Beth Ann (Abdellatif) El Ayadi, Dawn (John) Grubb: son Allen Edmonds and the father of her children, James Edmonds, her beloved grandchildren Rachel (Kyle) Pearson and great-grandson Theodore, grandson Joshua (Tianna) Edmonds and great- granddaughter Alice, Jillian (Nekko) Caruthers and great granddaughters Wynona “Winnie” and Denise; sister’s Grace Reneau, Linda Simpson and brother, Pastor Cecil Baxter and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Also, Grand puppy Malox and her bird Chico. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial gifts be made to Pancreatic Cancer Fund c/o Herb Kosten Foundation, 6060 Poplar Ave. Suite 140, Memphis, TN 38119. Graveside funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Hills Union Cemetery with Pastor Troy Duncan and Pastor Darrell Bewley officiating. The family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
