She was born September 9, 1926 in Angelina County, TX. Mrs. Watchel was a Registered Nurse who trained at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she met her future husband, Dr. Andrew S. Wachtel of Tate Springs, TN. She worked as a nurse in Knoxville, TN and in Houston, TX, caring for the critical and terminally ill patients, who were most in need of nursing. Mrs. Wachtel had many friends and acquaintances in Knoxville, TN. Preceded in death by her parents, James Richard Steele and Celestine Forrest Steele; husband, Dr. Andrew S. Wachtel; daughter, Alisha Kay Wachtel; brothers and sisters, Alice Steele Roberts, Rev. Chester Steele, John Lafayette Steele, James Richard Steele, Jr.. Frank Forrest Steele, Gay Stewart Steele, Nellie Jean Steele, and Rosa Lee Steele Scroggins. She is survived by her son, Dr. Stephen Wachtel and his wife, Carrie of Uniontown, PA; son, Christopher Steele Wachtel and his wife, Cathy of Katy, TX; grandchildren, Josh, Drew, Annie and Julie of Uniontown, Cody, Jessica and Thomas of Katy, TX.
