Doris Brabson Moore, age 79 of Dandridge, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 13, where she is rejoicing in His presence for the promise that was given to her on the day that she was saved. Born in Rutledge on April 15, 1939, Doris graduated from Rutledge High School and went on to become an accomplished horticulturist and naturalist, who loved flower gardening, bonsai pruning and hummingbirds. She was a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church, Dandridge, VFW Post 3380 Ladies Auxiliary and the Martha Dandridge Garden Club.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Parrott and Vonnie Roach Brabson, beloved Peepaw and Mamaw, William and Amanda Brabson, and Aunt Anna Lou Brabson, whom she affectionally called “Aunt Gute.” Left to mourn her loss is her husband of 61 years, C. Rodger Moore, whom she married on July 7, 1957. She is also survived by son and daughter-in-law Rodger Timothy and Jennifer Moore, son Jake Moore, sister Jo Morie, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Carol Brabson, special great-niece and great-nephew, Ali McCall and Trace Nystrom, and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 16 from noon-2:00 pm at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge, with funeral service immediately following and interment at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to Ijams Nature Center, 2915 Island Home Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920.
