Doris Walker Briggs

DORIS WALKER BRIGGS, age 86 of Dandridge, TN passed away Sunday evening May 30, 2010. She was born, May 24, 1924, the daughter of the late Sharp G. and Selma Killon Walker Sr. and was preceded in death by her first husband, Homer McCarter; sister, Lucille Corbett; brothers, Alfred and Marvin Walker. She was a member of the Swann?s Chapel Baptist Church and was a retired employee of South Central Bell after 31 years of service. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Charles W. Briggs; step-Children; Janice (Wayne) McKinney, Gary (Betsy) Briggs, and Craig (Terri) Briggs; grandchildren, Tina Cate, Renee? (Bobby) Morgan, Ryan (Kim) Briggs, Cliff (Danielle) Briggs and Megan Briggs; great-Grandchildren, Amber Cate, Kennedy Morgan, Dalton Morgan, Cole Cate and Kamdyn Briggs; several nieces and nephews; sisters, Maxine Garrett, Effie Cox, Mary Nell Widener and Louise Lawson; brothers, Fred W. (Buford) Walker and S.G. (Rosie) Walker Jr. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 1245, Dandridge, TN 37725. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 8:00 pm at the Swanns Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Haun officiating. Interment graveside service Wednesday, 1:00 pm at Hillcrest Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday, 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Swanns Chapel Baptist Church.
