He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. Shepherd; mother and father, George and Mae Shepherd; sister, Juanita Shepherd Watson; brother, David Shepherd; brother, Jessie Shepherd; sister, Odessa Shepherd; and niece, Star Lee Watson-Hinshaw.
He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Smith, and her husband, Randy; his daughter, Debbie Moneck, and her husband, Larry; and son, Michael Shepherd and his wife, Angela. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Aimee Upchurch, Randy Smith, Jr., Ryan Renee Kelley and Jason C. Moneck; and seven great-grandchildren: Caleb Smith, Gabriel Reed, Christian Upchurch, Hannah Kelley, Selah Kelley, Taylor Moneck and Esther Kelley. He is survived by his loving sister, Dorothy (Dot) Weaver; great niece, Crystal Karg and her sons, Benjamin and Matthew; great nephew, Jack Walter, and his sons, Jeremiah and Christopher; and his great nephew, Dustin Shepherd Hinshaw, and his children, Noah and Marlee.
A memorial service will be held at Farrar Funeral Home located at 411 W. Broadway Blvd., Jefferson City, Tennessee on Friday, October 30, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, his children and their families respectfully request that Bibles be donated in his honor and devotion to God’s Word to Gideons International, Jefferson County Camp, P.O. Box 1245, Dandridge, TN 37725.
No longer is our daddy “…in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better” (Phillipians 1:23 KJV). He is finally with the Father after much longing to see His face, which gives us great comfort. We, too, know that we will also celebrate the Lord Jesus one day with him…”for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day” (2 Timothy 1:12 KJV).
