Donald Leon Lowe, age 82 of Rutledge, Tennessee went to Heaven on Sunday evening, December 15, 2002. He was a faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church, a lifelong Grainger County farmer and cattleman and a retiree from New Jersey Zinc of Jefferson City. He was a highly decorated World war II veteran, having served with the US Army and receiving the Purple Heart. Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Cleo Murph Lowe; three sisters, Imogene Berry, Alta Curtis, and Silvia Cleo Lowe and a brother, Glen Lowe. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Irene Borum Lowe; his son and daughter in law, Donnie and Patty Clark Lowe; two beloved grandchildren, Dexter and Jerrica Lowe; sisters, who loved him dearly, Louisa Hodge of Rutledge and Judy Butler of Kingston; brother in law and wife, Buster and Betty Borum of Oliver Springs; sisters in law and husbands, Joann and J. T. Jenkins of Knoxville nd Willie and Walter Russell of Oliver Springs; several nieces and nephews; and his many friends at Life Care of Jefferson City. Masonic services will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Masonic Lodge # 44 conducting the services. Funeral service will follow with Rev. Stacey Lawson and Rev. Jerry DeZearn officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002 at the Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
