Diane Stubbendeck Russell

DIANE STUBBENDECK RUSSELL, age 68, of Strawberry Plains, TN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. She is preceded in death by her twin daughters, Kristy and Misty Russell; parents, Edwin and Sophie Stubbendeck; brother, Eddie, and nephew, Shane. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Arlin; beloved daughter, Karis; sister, Shirley Fensler; special cousin, Linda Bonne; dear friend, Marihelen Ballard; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Diane grew up in the southeastern plains of Nebraska and graduated Lincoln High School. When Diane visited East Tennessee she fell in love with Arlin and the mountains, finding her home here. Diane had many gifts she shared with her Strawberry Plains community. She served as a substitute and adult literacy teacher and an assistant librarian. After retiring, she continued her commitment to the Parrott-Wood Memorial Library as a board member for Friends of the Library. Additionally, Diane was a founding member of Jefferson City Christian Church and taught Sunday school for over 15 years. Diane had a knack for encouraging and helping others realize their own potential and was deeply passionate about serving her community. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2016 at Jefferson City Christian Church with Pastor Bob Emmert officiating.
